Crossing a busy street can be a harrowing experience for a person on foot. Even when there is a crosswalk, a pedestrian may find difficulties getting from one side of a street to another without putting themselves in the path of a dangerous moving vehicle. Taking precautions, using traffic signals, and walking in crosswalks are all important steps to take to limit the chance of suffering a pedestrian accident.

A mother and her three children were attempting to follow these rules when they entered a crosswalk in Las Vegas. While in the crosswalk, the mother and children were hit by a pick-up truck. Investigators claim that there is no evidence to suggest the pick-up driver tried to slow down when approaching the family.

The four-year-old son was killed in the accident while his two sisters, ages 2 and 3, were left with serious injuries. Their mother, a 25-year-old woman, suffered significant injuries and died after arriving at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

This tragic incident has undoubtedly left a family reeling over the double loss of a mother and her child and a community torn over how to support the two young surviving victims of this terrible accident. Relatives of the surviving girls and those close to the victims may want to find answers on how to enforce their rights in the wake of the tragedy. If you have been injured in an accident caused by the negligence of another, you may wish to consult a personal injury attorney to help learn more about your legal options.
